WHAT IS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP?
U-NXT is a forward-thinking funding platform for entrepreneurial music creators, owned by Universal Music Group. It offers bespoke and transparent investment for individual songs with the help of innovative in-house tech that scans and evaluates song performance across streaming platforms.
WHY ARE WE ADVANCING REVENUE?
We believe that artists like you need support with money now to move their careers further.
ARE WE ONLY INVESTING IN 1 SONG?
Yes, our deals are for one song at a time, you can always pitch us other of your released songs. We do not have an option on any of your future songs.
DO YOU KEEP THE MONEY YOU HAVE MADE PRIOR TO THE SONG WE ARE INVESTING IN?
Yes, everything that you have done prior to us is all yours to keep.
WHAT’S THE DEAL ON OFFER?
If we offer you a deal, it would be for U-NXT to exploit your recording in return for advancing your future royalties. The duration of the deal, amount of the advance and the percentage of royalties would depend on the option you select out of a number of different options we present to you at the time of making you an offer.
DO WE WANT NEIGHBORING RIGHTS?
You will be entitled to collect the artist share of payments collected and paid by producer collecting societies in respect of neighboring rights and we will be entitled to the label share of those payments.
DO WE WANT YOUR PUBLISHING RIGHTS?
No we do not, yours to keep.
DO WE WANT A SHARE OF SYNC REVENUE?
We will handle sync licensing requests and share the fee with you on a 50/50 basis.
WHAT IS OUR PRICE BASED ON?
By checking your overall streaming data on multiple platforms, we estimate how much your track is worth.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO TRANSFER THE SONG?
If your song has already been released previously:
1. Before you take down your track, we will upload the exact same track file and meta data such as song title, album title, album photo, ISRC, UPC through our distribution service. The song will appear with 2 copies and will be on your artist profile page as usual.
2. Wait a few days for the 2 simultaneous tracks to match together. This allows you to keep your stream number on that track. (If you have 80k streams, you will keep them on the new distribution we just created).
3. You will take down your track on your distribution platform after step 2.
We will upload the track on our distribution platform for you and set your desired release date. We will need the typical release information to do so such as audio file, album image, album title, singing language, lyrics etc.
If you love data like we do, you will of course have access to your own dashboard to see the stats on that song.
WHAT IS OUR DISTRIBUTION SERVICE?
If we enter into a deal in respect of one of your recordings, we’ll use our sister company, UMG owned, Virgin Music Group, to distribute your recording(s) to all major digital music platforms around the world. As part the deal, you’ll be given access to their “Central” dashboard to track your recording’s streaming data and to their “Register” payment portal through which you will receive your royalties once your advance is recouped.
what payment methods are we using for advance payments?
We are only paying through a bank transfer in US dollars.
